Universities in Ras Al Khaimah: AI names campuses the official lists miss

Ras Al Khaimah has two kinds of university. Some are licensed by the federal Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). Others are UK, US and Swiss branch campuses licensed by the emirate’s free zone, the RAKEZ Academic Zone. Those campuses are not on the federal lists.

AI ignores that split. We asked ChatGPT and Gemini for the best universities in Ras Al Khaimah. In 85% of 88 answers, they named a campus missing from the federal lists. So we added the RAKEZ campuses to our study. None of the 9 Ras Al Khaimah universities we measure is rarely or never named.

The study: 100 UAE universities measured and 79 ranked, October 2026, on ChatGPT and Gemini. Perplexity is missing.

Which universities are in Ras Al Khaimah, by regulator?

These are the 9 Ras Al Khaimah universities in our study. Of these, 6 are RAKEZ Academic Zone campuses. The rest are on the federal CAA register. RAKEZ lists more campuses on its own website.

What is the RAKEZ Academic Zone?

RAKEZ is the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone. Its Academic Zone licenses foreign universities to open branch campuses in the emirate. A campus licensed there does not appear on the federal CAA register or on Dubai’s KHDA list.

That matters for anyone who builds a list of UAE universities from the federal register alone. Across all seven emirates, AI named 18 operating, degree-awarding institutions that were missing from the lists we started with.

Which Ras Al Khaimah universities does AI recommend?

We asked 11 no-name questions about Ras Al Khaimah. One was “What are the best universities in Ras Al Khaimah?” We asked each one on ChatGPT and Gemini, in 3 rounds. Then we counted how often each university came up.

RAKEZ campuses and CAA universities: why does AI name both?

AI does not check who licenses a campus. It names the universities it has read about. In Ras Al Khaimah, those include the RAKEZ campuses.

Before we added the RAKEZ campuses, 75 of 88 Ras Al Khaimah answers named a college missing from the lists we started with. After we added them, 16% of answers still named one. These figures cover the universities we measured, not every college in the emirate.

How do you check a Ras Al Khaimah university’s licence?

Check the regulator that licenses it. For a federal university, that is the CAA register. For a free-zone campus, it is the RAKEZ Academic Zone list. Do not rely on AI for this. AI still named Horizon University College in 36 of 614 answers, months after it lost its licence in July 2026.

What should a Ras Al Khaimah university’s marketing team do?

AI names your campus. Google is a different story. 4 of the 6 RAKEZ campuses never appeared in Google’s top results for these searches.

1. Get listed on the “best universities in Ras Al Khaimah” pages that rank on Google. Those lists are what students click first.
2. Say who licenses you, clearly, on your own website. A student who cannot find you on the CAA register needs to see the RAKEZ licence instead.
3. Keep your directory profiles current, with your Ras Al Khaimah address and programmes, not only your home campus.
4. Check what AI says about your emirate every month. A closed campus or an old name in the answer affects every university named next to it.
